What are the top 3 amps that the famous metal bands use, and do they. Thread starter bbutler Start date Mar 16, Messages 2, Messages 11, Drdos Member. Messages Messages 1, Obviously there are many other choices, but it would seem that all the others are somewhat a variation or improved version of these three.

Ronsonic Member. Messages 3, Far enough apart that it's hard to generalize. I know nothing about "nu-metal" and my only familiarity with most "death metal" varieties is fixing the amps. I can say something about the range of stuff from old Deep Purple to Speed and Thrash. Some guys use a gained up amp others a pedal.

Nobody seems to do both. What I've seen from the guys I've worked with is much less distortion than the average or above average listener perceives. Overdrive too far and the bottom end turns to mush and the top doesn't articulate. Heavy is heavier if the amp is basically holding together. By the time the power tubes distort it isn't heavy anymore and gets overcompressed and small sounding. Jesse Keeler Death From Above Jezy Ward Hemlock. Jim Bob Gairrett Kenny Chesney.

Joost van der Graaf Pestilence. Jordan Lockrey Carnifex. Jordan Rudess Dream Theater. Justin Moore. Kazuya Sugi Sugiyama Coldrain. Keith Shocklee. Kenny Kight Bobby Rush Band. Kerry McCoy Deafheaven. Kevin Post Blake Shelton. Kevin Thrasher Escape The Fate. King Dude King Dude. Kurt Ozan Luke Combs. Little G Weevil. Lou Rodriguez Bobby Rush Band. Marc Rizzo Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy.

Martin Larsson At The Gates. Matt Rade Eagle Claw. Michael Anthony Chickenfoot. Michael Gonzalez Eagle Claw.

Pat Seymour Final Drive. Paul Rousseau Silverstein. Perry Richardson Stryper. Perttu Kivilaakso Apocalyptica. Phil Demmel Machine Head. Phil Frye Daryle Singletary. Randle Currie Brad Paisley. I've seen a couple of YouTube videos one audience-filmed where it looks like there are '80s era Peavey SS amps onstage.

Not sure if he still uses them. I read a magazine interview where he mentioned using it on his album in I've seen a few pictures where he has gigged with it. A Dumble hidden in disguise?

I saw one in his live-in-the-studio video with Leon Russell Paradise Studios. Any others? Or any corrections to the above? Oct 23, 2. Posts: 2, Just about any top pedal steel player has used Peavey amps at one time or another. Now it seems most are going for tubes in the form of Fender Silverfaces.
